Summary
The ninth edition of the China (Indonesia) Export Brand Joint Exhibition and Jakarta International Industrial Expo opened on June 4 at the Jakarta Convention Centre. Spanning 40, 000 square metres, the event attracted over 1,
000 companies from 20 Chinese provinces, Indonesia, Japan and others,
with more than 70, 000 pre-registered buyers. It focuses on Indonesia's Industry 4.0 upgrade and covers 15 product categories.
Commentary
As the largest economy in ASEAN, Indonesia has prioritised food and beverages and automotive sectors under its Industry 4.0 roadmap. However, its weak domestic equipment manufacturing relies heavily on imports. The China exhibition, covering 40,000 sqm with over 70,000 pre-registered buyers, underscores China's dominant role in industrial goods supply within the RCEP region.
For New Zealand SMEs, Chinese-made products' price advantages may crowd out similar items. But New Zealand offers world-leading expertise in agricultural technology and food processing equipment, providing differentiated high-end solutions for Indonesia's food processing upgrade. Additionally, through the Indonesia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement, zero or low tariffs facilitate market entry, and New Zealand firms can supply precision testing and environmental technologies as supporting services for Chinese exhibitors.

Commentary in Chinese |
